2001 2500HD Sierra - Suspension Issues

I know - I bought a big, heavy truck and it should ride like a truck BUT...

I own a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD crew cab with short bed. It has 27,000 miles and for every one of those miles it beats the hell out of me. The suspension seems overly stiff, and on some sections of concrete freeway with cupped expansion joints, it becomes almost intolerable. Anyone else have this problem?? And if so, is there a fix other than replacing springs and shocks - I hate to do that on such a new truck.

When I bought my 2000 Silverado, same thing. I was scared to drive over railroad tracks. The problem was that the factory tires were load class d's which was heavier than what i needed with just a small canopy cap. So I went with slightly wider Michelin tires and wheels in load class c. Made a total difference. Rides beautiful now.
