98 Jimmy tune-up and timing

All,

I want to tune-up my 98 Jimmy myself. 75K miles. I've read everyones input on Delco vs Bosch plugs, buying a good cap, and buying good wires. I will of course try to buy the best out of all of the suggestions.

My question is that nobody has mentioned the timing. I know the timing light and manual adjustments are a thing of the past. Do I need to have a computer check and\or change my settings after a parts tune-up? If so I need suggestions. GMC wants $165 for plugs and I'm guessing timing.

Thanks in advance,

You CAN NOT adjust timing on the Jimmy....it is computer controled. I learned about that in an auto tech class I took last year. Mitchell Manual for the 98 4.3 Vortec V6 states that the timing is NON-ADJUSTABLE

just letting you know

I have a 98 Sonoma 4x4 4.3 Vortec, thats how I know ;)

Look around online, odds are theres a computer chip or a hackers fix to allow you to change timing by swiching chips or fiddling with a soldering iron...
