Are there any REAL online Salvage Yards

Are there any REAL online Salvage Yards?

While googling for online auto salvage yards, it seems that most of what I get are offers for new parts, links to ebay, amazon, etc. Then I get these sites that supposedly check all salvage yards, and for a cost, I'm supposed to give them my email address and fill out forms. I actually did submit one of these one time, and never got anything except more spam email. Others really do not have parts lists, and just list a phone number to call. It's more like trying to find a needle in a haystack, than actual online shopping.

I'm looking for a simple armrest for a 95 Chevy K2500 truck. We only have one local salvage yard, and they dont have one. The cost for a replacement at a Chevy dealer is beyond what I'm willing to pay for a new item. Ebay also has new ones for far too high of a price. I'm sure that there are lots of these in salvage yards, because they are not an item that regularly goes bad. (My truck was missing this part when I bought it).

I'm willing to pay a normal salvage yard price for this item, and pay shipping since it's relatively small and light weight. I dont really care what color it is either, just as long as I can get one.

Have any of you used any online salvage yards that are fairly priced and will ship smaller items like this? Please post weblinks. (This is for the United States).

Thanks

---- By the way, if any of you have a 1995 Chevy K2500 Cherokee (or compatible) pickup truck which you are parting out, and have a usable spare drivers door armrest, let me know. I'll ask you to send a photo and will pay a fair salvage price plus shipping.

Most yards will ship BUT something like an armrest is usually not cataloged. You would need to call them, or better visit them and make sure of color and condition before you buy.

Give me a general location (closest city, state) and I'll see what comes up on the interchange and if you have any U-pull it type yards around.

I know that all of the U-Pull it yards around me would have at least a few as would the common yards. Pricing is dependent on the yard. My local yard gets 5 bucks for the arm rest.

I bought a grill from a salvage yard on eBay.

Several times I have tried on-line salvage to get parts (such as a tailgate for a Tahoe), and the experience was frustrating and in ever case unsuccessful. Emails from me went unanswered, telephone calls from me went unanswered, and the few times I was told the place had what I was looking for, I went to get the parts and found they had lied to me. In one case I managed to buy a tailgate, just to drive about 220 miles (one-way) to pick it up and I found that the seller had sold it to somene else for more money, minutes before I arrived.

It seems the latest thing is that there are several sites that claim they will search all salvage years to locate the part. They then post a list of all the places in a given area that (supposedly) have the part, and ask for personal info, such as name, address, phone, email, etc. I went thru this whole ordeal on several of those sites, and after you waste your time entering all this stuff, they request a payment in order to continue. Without paying, all you get is a worthless list. Even though the amounts they want are small ($6 to $15), I refuse to pay for such a thing, because they may not have the part located in the end anyhow.

The last time I went thru this whole ordeal, and exited their site when they wanted money, I got on their email list, and started to get spam from them. I asked to be removed, and they did, but it pissed me off anyhow.
