Ignition Problem 89 Chevy 5.7

I couldn't start my truck so I changed out the Cap, which had a crack in it, changed the rotor. No luck. then i switched the ignition module with an 88 GMC 5.7 that I have, but no luck. Finally I switched out the coil with the same truck. Then it started right up, ran for about 10 min and then just shut down completely, no sputter, nothing. It wouldn't start back up, I hooked up the timing light up and it didn't light. It must be timing related. Any ideas. I think it may be the module. Is there any way to check it without spending the $80 on a new one. Either that or it might be the coil again. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Andrew

A good place would be to check:

The distributor pickup coil, and the connector to the module from the pickup coil.

I hope this helps?
