OT: hope not, looking for info on 94 Chev 4x4 1500

I'm in the market for a larger pickup, having an S-10. I've been looking for over a month and think I have found a nice one.

166,000 miles, tight, clean, stock. No rips in seat, no major body defects, doors don't drop when you open them, appears to be garaged. One owner, seems like an honest guy. Will need tires soon, priced 6 plys today, 4 @ $700.

Owner says he loaned the truck to a nephew for almost 2 years, and the nephew had to put a transmission in it @

120,000. He also says he replaced the heater core for some reason. I know he was honest about that, because when I was underneath it, I found a page out of a repair manual stuffed near the shock having to do with this. He says no other major repairs.

Anyway, I was just looking for advice on purchasing this year, from you pros. Anything I might should know about the particular year and model. My dad had an 88 half ton, I think it was a 350, but it seemed to have a lot more zip than this truck. It was also a 2x though too...maybe lighter?

Thanks for any info, thanks for reading.

I had a 1995 with the 350 for 6.3 years (262,000 miles!) until last month - old woman plowed into me & pushed me into a light pole - totaled the truck. Just picked up a 1997 - what a difference! Vortec 350 has substantially more power, better mileage, & truck's turning radius is better. Glad she hit me now (full coverage insurance).

i have an 89 k1500 with 260000kms on it and i don't think i 'll ever part with it...i like the tbi chevys ... the vortec engines may have more power, but the tbi ones are more reliable and easier to work on...cheaper to work on....but be leary of intake gasket leaks to the inside

I too kinda favor TBI 350's, I have one with nearly 180K miles in a 89

4x4 burb that I have had since new. I also have a 350 vortec in a K3500 but I like the better low speed torque and responce of the TBI one though the Vortec is a lot stronger above 3000 RPM or so my burb rarely gets up there of needs too and will pretty muck pull any highway hill in OD with converter locked with little effort because of its strong low RPM torque.
