Remove steering wheel - 2000 Blazer / Jimmy

I need to replace the ignition switch on a 2000 Jimmy with a tilt wheel but I can't figure out how to remobe the steering wheel to gain access to the switch. Can anyone help me?

Thanks

The wheel doesn't have to come off on a 2000 to change the switch or the tumbler section, it is easier but there is plenty of room to do it with the wheel on.

Look under the column trim and you will find two torx headed screws. Remove them and then GENTLY push the plastic in at the top while pushing down, that will release the two upper tabs. Now to release the lower ones you pull the housing toward the wheel. That removes the bottom trim cover. To remove the top cover you need a SMALL torx socket. There are two screws that go up into the plastic. To remove the tilt lever just pull it straight out of the socket it is in after you tilt the wheel down. Now remove the upper cover by twisting it toward the key lock (if you have column shift put the trans in low for more room). Once you have it off tilt the wheel back up. Now look on the right side below the key. There are two screws that hold the switch itself there. Make sure the key is OFF. Remove the old one and install the new one. Then reverse the process.
