Hi Larry, Another way you can do is to go to autojunk yard or shop, Get one off of a blazer or tahoe which some do come with tailgate lock, which may come with key or not. If not, take it to locksmith and they with have key made for it. Or you can order the same part at your local dealership too. Be sure to lube your tailgate linkage and lashes on the side when changing the handle with some white grease and spray. The tailgate do have a cover on the backside to get inside the gate. Some of these are also powered by doorlock switchs. You may have to wire it somehow to a switch if you don't have powerlock. Handy if you lose your key and want to get in your tailgate as some do have spare key in there under the bedlip near the top in those spare key case if you know what I mean. You can also have the locksmith reset the tumbler to use your doorkey if you want instead of having too many keys for the truck. Hope this work out for you. Whtblazer
