There was lots of water from heavy rain.
When I opened the hood, a splash of water dropped onto the alternator. Will this likely cause any problem ?

You ought to have a look under there afer a drive on a rainy day. EVERYTHING is soaked. It's MADE to get soaked. Many older rear-drive American cars had their alternators right up front, immediately behind the rad.
Many of us wash our engines with a spray washer semi-regularly. We usually are careful around the distributor and the fluid reservoirs but the alternator gets the spray. No problems yet!
