I have a 2.8 with @35k miles. The ABS light came on then the front right

Well if it's made the grinding noise it needs the new discs as well as the pads, calipers are difficult to know without looking at them but 35000m isn't far off the norm for a set of pads so I'd be skeptical but not disbelieving about the calipers.
