Erm - Audi DOES have history, of sorts, with the Wankel engine!
The NSU RO80 used a Wankel, in the early 1970s.
NSU, along with Horch, DKW, Wanderer and Audi - were part of the original Auto Union, which went on to simply become Audi.
And the Ro80 was apparently a cracker in many ways, however, the rotary engine was it's weak point at the time, in reliability terms.
I still call troll though.
