BTW, I have checked the fuse and that isn't the problem.
Thanks in advance for any help, pointers, thoughts or possible solutions.

Sounds like a CD has gotten stuck in the machine. You could try removing the covers from the changer to see if you can release it by hand.
Thanks Steve for the prompt response. I will try this.

Steve, I took the unit down but couldn't get any nearer to either removing the cartridge or any individual CD. I didn't want to use undue force. Anyother thoughts anyone?
TIA,
Vijay
Vijay,
Is there a small hole in the unit marked "Eject" or something similar - it'll be quite small; just about big enough to get a paper clip into? If there is then use said paper clip in the hole - it takes quite a bit of force - to manually release the cartridge.
Other than that I'm afraid I can't help. Sorry :-(
My CD changer has just done the same thing. Bah. And I had five of my favourite CDs in it too.
You take the unit out of the car, open it, and manually operate the gears to retract the cd back into the mag. and then operate the gears to get it to eject.
Vijay,
you can take a credit card and slide the card underneath the cd cartridge and it will pop out. I had this happen in my 525 (US model). Not sure if you have a single CD also stuck in the player itself. If so, you can take it out by opening up the unit. I had a CD stuck in there when 2 buttons (cd 2 and cd 3) were pressed one after the other by mistake. The first cd was in the process of unloading and cd2 attempted to load.
Don't force anything.
hope this helps. anil bharucha
I did better than that. It worked after a couple of thumps :-)
