remove storage box lid - '06 Z4 Roadster - help! Help! HELP! Please.

I decided to install the BMW Sirius receiver in my 2006 Z4 Roadster and although I am very handy, I'm stuck at the first step, removing the swing down lid on the rear center storage box so I can get access to the installation spot. This is the little lid that covers the spot where the nav computer or the Sirius or cd changer go as well as the oddment box.

BMW's repair bulletin 61 16 239 on this procedure directs to unclip the lid after releasing the two screws on the lid shaft bearings and with the movement restraining wire in place. All of that works great until the lid does not come out, even with relatively strong pressure on the plastic parts after the warning of: Important! Risk of Damage!

I can see the bearing move in the mount but it does not release and come forward as it's supposed to. I've tried some gentle prying but I'm afraid I'll break the mounts or the bearing and end up having to replace the whole mounting frame or lid.

Does anyone have experience in removing this part? Is there some easy obvious step I'm missing? I removed the bearing screws completely. Is there a possibility that release means to just give them a turn or two and leave them in the bearing to be removed or the bearing will not come out. Major frustration here. Help if you can.
