strange problem!!

i have a 1985 325e that i have had alot of trouble with lately.

the car broke down on the way home last weekend, and i found out from a mechanic that the fuel pressure regulator had gone bad. after replacing the part, the car ran very rough for a few mintues (normal due to excess gas in cylinders after flooding) but after sitting for a day or two now, when i turn the key, the engine starts but dies almost immediatley, i have found that if i give it a little gas after it starts, it dies instantly. i dont have much time in my schedule to deal with the problem so i left it alone until today and when i tried to start it, the engine cranked VERY slowly and failed to start, as if the battery was dead.

is there any explanation anyone has for this problem?? any help would be appreciated!

thanks
