detuning question???

Hi everyone. I'm new to this group, and hope someone can answer a question for me. I'm not real familiar with GM's but I bought my daughter a 91 camaro RS, 305 auto. Is there a way, or a computer available to "detune" the engine? It's a really nice car, but I think it may be a little to much performance for her. I'd at least like to restrict the speed if possible. Thanks in advance, LeRoy

It sounds like you have an aftermarket chip in her. check the computer for the chip and get the 4 large letters on the chip. Ill be able to say for sure then.

It might be more efficient to 'detune' your daughter rather than the car. Any car can be a lethal tool in the blink of an eye if abused. My daughter just started driving, she drives my '68 Camaro which has a 383 stroker and 450hp in it! She has had to learn that you can't floor it, or you'll end up in the neighbor's front yard, maybe all the way through to the backyard....I think teenagers can handle that responsibility...of course you have to moniter them closely though....

Wouldn't it be easier just to yank out a couple of spark plugs? ;)
