1999 Chevy Venture + possible dex-cool problems

Hi,

I'm hoping I haven't fallen into the category of those with dex-cool coolant leaking into engine. The past week my low coolant light has been coming on. I have added til I cant add no more. The next day most of the fluid has vanished, but no sign of leaks. Van has been driving great with no obvious signs of trouble except for the low coolant light. No over-heating either.

My mechanic has the van now. He's going to check everything for me. He is going to do a complete flush. Check all hoses, change and inspect oil and filter for signs of coolant. I'm assuming he will check my intake gasket for deterioation. He may even get me on the road to switching to green coolant.

My question to you all is what signs would I notice that coolant is leaking into engine oil. I checked the dipstick, and it looks like oil only. What would it look like if the two were mixing? Would driving conditions feel different if indeed the two are mixing.

I'm just dying to hear from him, and told him to keep the van as long as needed. I hate having trouble like this. I'm not even sure what the problem is, but it has me worried senseless. What are the chances that coolant is leaking into engine? How much should I expect to pay? How long of a job is it? I only have the one car and I have to have it for work. Any advice would be great.
