Yes, it's normal, they aren't going to fix anything unless it's hammering when the engine is fully warmed up.

Just do a yahoo or google search for piston slap and you'll find all you need to know.

Yeah, didn't you know.....piston slap is normal according to GM. It comes standard on all new trucks free of charge!
