2002 trailblazer doors

I just got an 02 trailblazer and when driving in the wind there seems to be a lot of wind noise coming from the top of front doors.

When the doors are open all the way it looks like the welds are loose on the firewall pillar.

1 could this be causing the windnoise?

2 does this need to be repaired?

I had the same problem, wind noise at the top of the doors! I took it back about 5 times before I solved the problem myself, as the dealer did not help. It went to a body shop 3 times and we all agreed the metal is weak near the welds. I ended up putting an extra piece of rubber moulding around the door. My welds looked like they were loose, but after checking real good they appeared ok, might be a factory defect for 2002? I weld for a living, and I did not test them other than a visual after grinding the paint off, touched the paint up afterwards. I think the place where the welds are the base metal is not strong enough and bends slightly warping the base metal where it is welded, thus causing the problem of the wind noise. I know of 3 other people in the same boat, and they used my trick to make it work out for them.

Good luck, and hope you find your solution. If the welds appear loose, I would get them welded again.

I'll probably try to get them rewelded if I can find someone to do it. I thought of foam weatherstrip around the top of the doors but I'm leary about putting more stress on the door.

Thanlks for the reply
