2003 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab w/Duramax

Hi Group,

I have a fairly new 2003 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab w/Duramax. The front end on this truck seems to be awfully low. I also notice that the lower 'A' Arms sit on the bump stops, is this normal? Has anyone experimented with adjusting the torsion bar settings on one of the newer model Chevy 2500HDs? Can the tension be increased to increase ride height? If so, how do you make sure they are even? Does it affect alignment, shock length, etc.? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance for any help.

Dave

I've had it done by the dealer on two 2500s before I picked them up. if you do it, be sure to recheck the front end alignment, and the headlight aim.

I have a 2004 2500HD Crew 2WD with Duramax coming in next week. It will probably be the only 2WD in Colorado. I will be sure to take a look.

If it's sitting on the bumps stops I would bring it to the dealer asap... is it under 36k miles??? no way it should hit the bump stops , even with the bars as loose as they can go....as yes it effects allignment, shock length stays the same...after it's fixed and ride height is set, then an allignment should be done....Bobo

Sounds more drastic than just needing an adjustment of the t-bars. Get it to your dealer b4 your warranty runs down.

I have a 2003 2500HD with DMax, and it's nowhere near the stops.

Thanks guys. I will get it to the dealer, I only have less than 8K miles on it.

The bump stops I am talking about are the yellow ones just above the lower 'A' arms. They are ctually touching the lower 'A' Arms. You are saying yours doesn't even come close to them?

Thanks again,

Dave

OK, just went out to the garage to check the bumper (yellow) clearance on mine, it's touching and I think it's probably designed to touch. I have a

2003 duramax crewcab with 4 wheel drive. Sitting on a level pad the distance from the floor to the bottom of the wheel opening molding is 38". Looks normal to me.
