2003 S-10 worn front disk pads

20,000 miles and its time for new pads. I was told that GM uses ceramic disk pads on the s-10 and that I should continue to use ceramic pads. Pads are $72.00. at the auto parts store. Is it necessary that I use ceramic? I had a s-10 Blazer 93, and I always used good quality regular pads with no trouble. Are the new rotors different? Andy

Ceramic is pretty high-quality stuff... and safety is not something you should normally skimp out on. If it were ME.. I'd keep using ceramic pads... but I'm sure a good semi-metallic pad will work well. As far as your rotors go... get 'em turned (aka resurfaced) & they'll be fine for another brake pad lifetime.

Autozone.

Performance Friction Z-Rated (p/n 154.10). Expected lots of dust but it's been about the same amount as stock. Slightly better pedal feel (reduced pressure). Never the slightest peep of noise -- totally silent.
