2004 Silverado wind noise

Anyone out there run across noise problems with your truck? I have a

2004 2500HD that makes a lot of slapping noises around the cowl at highway speeds. At first I though it was those flimsy hood hinge covers flapping around at high speeds. I tied those up but the noise is still there. It seems to come from both sides of the truck. Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you have a bug deflector on it? This is common with a bug deflector, the official GM one $$$ should have come with some double stick tape for the rubber striping on the windshield. Easy fix, get some 3m double sided tape and remove the rubber side trim from the windshield by opening the doors and removing the 4 torx screws, then clean and apply the tape and replace.

Had the same thing with my 2004 Silverado, do you have a bug deflector on the front of the hood? If you do, take it off and the sound will go away. The bug deflector sends the wind to the rubber moulding on top of the windshield and that is the slapping that you hear. You get bugs on your windshield but you can hardly hear them scream as they die.

My 2005 Tahoe has wind noise at highway speeds and I just figure that GM has never put these cars into a wind tunnel or the execs in Detroit never drive on a highway.

Greetings,

I had the exact same issue on my 2004 2500HD with a bug deflector. The dealership fixed if free under waranty by running a bead of clear silicon sealant under the black trim strips on both sides of the windshield. End of problem, no cost to me.

Its the strips on sides not the top. The correct fix is to apply tape to the rubber to hold it down, the factory bug deflector comes with it.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I do have a bug deflector. I was thinking it was the not so tight plastic bits at the base of the windshield. The sides of the windshield also makes perfect sense. I will apply the fix there.

Thanks Again
