I have the one with the nut....well HAD a nut...it is gone. I cleaned it up really well and there is a threaded stud in the center with threads around the outside, The tool I had at Autozone looked to be the right one, but the threads did not match. That is the only one they carry, so I am looking at a tool purchase or a trip to the dealer (as a LAST resort) to get it fixed. I'll find out which is cheaper tomorrow.

This is the one I just ordered. I have no idea if it will fit yours (or mine) for sure but it most likely will. I figure for $25 what the hell. I have never found these tools at pep-boys, kragen ect. .

12 pack of beer $10.00 pack of smokes $4.00 To honestly see someone stick a screwdriver in a engine with moving parts using their teeth. PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness I don't use my "ear" I touch my teeth to the screw driver. They seem to transfer the sound better, especially the upper teeth. Use a long screwdriver stick one end to your ear, the other to the compressor. If the bearing is bad you will know for sure by the sound. If it isnt obvious look for the noise elswhere. If it is the bearing INSIDE the compressor it will make noise ONLY with the air ON. The pulley bearing will make noise all the time. It is very common for the pulley/clutch bearing to go out. It's about $25 at the parts store. You need the right tools to remove/install the clutch and pulley. If fact one of mine just broke so I ordered the kit from Harbor Freight today. ($25) It is a cheap one but good enough for home use. If you decide to do it yourself post back for detailed instructions.....Its not THAT hard to do.

Which AC pulley are you trying to pull? :0)

If you have to worry that much about yourself, maybe the hood latch should remain hidden from you. Besides, looking AT the engine, not sideways at the engine, I would say that you have less chance. The fall backs are your teeth aren't stereoscopic, but then again scopes/screw drivers aren't either! But you can pick up much more subtle sounds with your teeth - no background noise!
