right side of diff, above "support" web, use 3/8 inch square to get it out. If its never been out, use an impact quality extension and a 3/8 inch drive breaker bar. If you even think its going to round out the plug, take it some where. I've had to use a device called a "blaster" to get them out. Its a device goes in an air hammer, instead of a chisel or punch end it has a 3/8" or 1/2" drive square and it has a 3/4" wrench surface in the center. You use light air pressure and the vibration breaks it loose while you try turning with the wrench. I got my set from Matco years ago. Also works great getting torx bit caliper mounting bolts broke loose.

Thanks for the info. Now with it light enough to see, in place of the plug you mention there is a tubing connector with about a 1/2" black hose connected. It's about 2 ft long and is capped and connected to a bracket on the frame. It's not exactly easy to get to, so I'm not sure if it's there as a convenience.

Any idea how much oil to put in?

Thanks again, Jeff

That's not it, that's the vent tube. The plug itself will be one inch in diameter, at about the half way point from the top and bottom of the diff housing (or pumpkin if you've been around a while). The fluid should be at the bottom of the opening, no more than 1/2 inch below the opening. The vent tube will be well above that area, other wise she would blow fluid out the vent going down the road
