96 Turbo Diesel Will Not Start - Need Help

Have a 96 2500K with the 6.6 Turbo Diesel. The motor will not start, "wait to start" light does not come on, but the fuel pump does pump-up. The blower fan will not come on when key is sent to run. Any ideas?

Have check the batterys, cleaned the battery termals, fues checked ok and reseated all relays in the engine bay. I suspect something electrical has gone wrong as the blower fan does not come on nor the "wait to start" indicator lamp. Radio does play and some of the warning lights (such as water in fuel lamp and daytime running lights indicator.) Has been sitting for a week outside.

Right before this happen, started it up, but the blower would not come on and the gear shift indicator did not light. Drove it around the block and parked it, didn't trust it for the trip that day.

She has 118K on it, mostly highway non-hauling miles. Have owned since new.

It does have AC, cruise, am/fm radio, automatic and normal complment of lights, bone stock.

Any ideas? Don't want to be taken at the dealership when it gets towend in.

Thanks.

I work for a dealer, but I can't pull service maual data til monday(96 is paper only for me), you could check the fuses to see if they have power when the key is on, The ignition switches are somewhat common for failing as you have described on a gasline engine, not sure about a diesel, but it is the same switch. If you don't have power you can check the 2 red wires going into the ign switch for power. If you have power there, check the pink and white for power in the run/crank position, and the orange and brown should have power in the run position.. hopefully you will find the problem there...

I'm a dealer tech also, I agree with the ignition switch theory. Seems the only thing that the blower motor and the I/P glow plug module has in common is ignition switch, or a bad ground? Ign Switch is more likely. Sorry my hands are tied as well on a service manual until monday as well.

We used to have a '98 diesel dually out at the farm that did this. I think the boss ended up having a shop replace the ignition switch.
