97 Chevy Express 2500 Missing Problem....

Hi

Truck is a 97 Express Van with a 5.0l vortec and auto trans

The truck runs crappy and misses and the Service Engine light comes on randomly, seems to happen in humid conditions, although Van is garage kept.

The Problem comes and goes.....

Already Changed Plugs, Wires, Cap & Rotor, Put Drygas and Injector Cleaner in tank.

Had it Scanned once and it said bad o2 sensor...Replaced it. Also said Misfire Cyl 7....Injector Problem ???

What to look at next ??? Help

I've seen a number of these vortec engines with the intake manifold gasket that have deformed and you get a nice vacuum leak. It's hard to detect, because the vacuum leak is "inside" the engine, so you can spray stuff all around the outside of the intake and you wont find the leak.

The most under utilized tool today is still one of the most informative, a vacuum gauge. Whitelightning

Thanks for the replies, gives me another place to look !

One other thing my buddy just mentioned (his truck) is that the crappy running usually happens in the mornings and seems to clear up after a bit of driving.

Now suppose I had a vacuum gauge....What would one check first and how do I know what the norm would be ??? Does a good shop manual tell this ?? I have a Chilton's Manual that covers this year but it seems a bit basic at times.

Thanks a bunch....
