985 Silverado 4x4 Handling Problem

My 1985 4x4 is all stock with Goodyear 10.5x31 15s. For more than a year I have been fighting a handling problem.

It loves to go where it wants. New steering gear box (that has been professionally adjusted and rechecked), new shocks, new steering stabilizer, new tie rod ends,,,nothing seems to help.

The tires are new. I've tried different air pressures in 2 lb. increments. I have double checked wheel bearing torque and rear end locks.

Anyone got any ideas?

I got one for ya Doc -

'79 K-1500. Dana 44 front axle. 4" lift. Frame reinforced. Good (new) ball joints - all 4. Good tie rod ends. Good drag link. Raised steering arm. Good (as far as I can tell) steering stabilizer.

Just replaced the ball joints and steering arm last week. Adjusted the steering wheel and drag link to get most of my steering range back (still lack about 3/8" on both sides). After the steering arm swap, I noticed

*more* bump-steer than I had before. Am I just imagining things until I get used to the way it handles, or is there something more I need to check?

TIA

Jeremy

What model of goodyears? I agree with doc on ball joints but also if you have a real aggressive tread which in a 31 I doubt you will get some wandering.

sidewinder, They're Goodyear Tracker Radial 31x10.5R 15L1 tires with a pretty non-aggressive tread. Everything on the steering has been checked and replaced/repaired as needed. The only other thing I can think of is the tires. This is the first Goodyears I/ve ever run on this truck. I ran Michellin's before all this front end work was done and never had this problem with the old setup.
