The lights in my 99 silverado odomerter and gear selector have gone out. Does any one know if you need to replace the entire spedometer or is the odometer a seperate unit?

Just change the bulb. Don't replace anything else.

Be real careful putting the bulb in, if you push too hard you'll push the socket off the end of the earth (or out the back) and since you would think to replace a speedo, you'd need to buy a new truck....
Dashes are really a mess, all sorts of little screws and shizzy like that........ either bring an egg carton and allot of assorted screw drivers, torx drivers, and small sockets with you or have a mechanic do it.
