Are my shocks bad?

Hi all, one month ago i bought a 99 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3, after looking it over i see that it has edelbrock shocks, they seem to be very soft, when i go slow over a speed bump or back into my drive way, the front end will bounce a couple of times. I have never had edelbrock shocks before so i don't know if this is the way they work. If they are bad, would i be better off with some Bilstiens, or Gabrial monotubes. My truck is stock height, and i like and smooth but firm ride

I put Edlebrock's on my 92 explorer and they were great for about 4000 miles, then they seemed to go to a permanent SOFT setting. Edlebrook does NOT stand behind their lifetime warranty. I replaced them with Monroe Reflex, best shocks I've ever had. Bilstiens tend to be pretty stiff. The Gabriel or Monroe's would be my choice.

My 96 Silverado had Bilstiens from the factory. I replaced them at 100k with the Bilstien HD shocks. They cost me ~$240. I consider it money well spent cuz they last a LONG time. I think Doc likes the Gabriel Sport Trac shocks. I have them on my Blazer. They seem to be a good "economy" choice. YMMV Mike
