i have a '00 Z71 5.3L (gasoline) Chevy and would like to install an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed (short box) of the truck. can anyone recommend a good unit and one that is not $1K? here are a couple that i am looking at.
You're going to have to check the laws where you live, but typically you are not allowed to carry gasoline in these types of fixed auxillary storage tanks. They differentiate between fixed aux. tanks at the same level as the passenger compartment and portable gas cans with a maximum capacity of 5-10 gallons. Diesel fuel is different because it is so much less volitile than gasoline.
You may have to install a secondary tank below the bed or get a larger replacement tank for your stock unit. Depending on your truck, you may be able to double your capacity this way.
