best sounding muffler ?

With the new engine for my truck, i'm also going to be replacing the rotted exhaust system as well. The new engine is a 400+ HP 350. I plan to use headers, 2.5 inch dual pipes with a crossover. The dilemma i'm having is the choice of muffler. Basically the sound i'm looking for is that 60's muscle car sound thats loud enough to be enjoyable and not obnoxious.

At first I was planning on flowmaster 40 series, but I was warned that they would have an annoying deep resonance at cruising speeds. What brand and model of mufflers is going to let me hear the choppy idle my motor has, stay tolerable at crusing speeds, and sound great at WOT ?

Check some of the manufacturer's Websites. Some of them have audio files.

I like the Magnaflows.

Had Flowmaster series 40 on my hot rod. Very loud. Switched to Magnaflows, Very loud but lower pitch. My mufflers are 3 inch center in and out. Offset in and out may sound different, smaller in and out may also change the noise level.

I like the borla system. I had that system on my IROC. Its got that deep gurgley sound to it. Awesome sound when you mash the gas peddle. Quiet at cruising speed.

This was what I was worried about. So I went with a 50 series flowmaster. Sounds great and not that loud in the cab cruising down the Highway.

You COULD demonstrate to the world how mature you are by having stock or very quiet mufflers.

HAHAHAHAAHHAHHA your joking right? No exhaust is bad, but a little sound is a good thing unless unless your 90 years old. In which case you can't hear it anyway, so why bother?

I got a dual exhaust 3" magnaflow performance system on my 350.

It's a good throaty sound withut being too loud and annoying. I'm in the process of adding 2 boom tubes ( same style that Nascar uses ) to give me a deeper throatier sound without increasing the dB level any.
