Cannot Get Truck to Run Hot...

Badaztek, You are completely wrong and a danger to others vehicles by writing this drivel. Read and learn "How a cooling system works".

And BTW, my AIR COOLED Harley 100 was cooled more by the oil in the crankcase than the air flowing over the cylinder fins, but my WATER COOLED Shadow 750 did indeed have a thermostat which opened and closed to REGULATE the engine temp. Regards, JR

damn radiator doesnt regulate anything, zip, nada. The thermostat helps the enigien warm up faster, yes, it also regulates the lowest tempature it runs at. It also acts a a restrictor to slow the flow of water down through the radiator so that it can move its heat to the cooler air. Latent rule of heat, you dont cool off anything, whats hot trys to heat up the area around it..

Those old surplus flat head powered dodge power wagons had a radiator three times bigger than they needed, and an engine that ran way cooler than anything built today, and I had first hand experiance working on them,. Wearing OD Green for a living. Do you know what spelled the death of the VW air cooled engine? Inablity to control operating tempature, which means inablity to control emmissions.

Then maybe you can explain why drag cars

They may not run a thermostat, but they damn sure do run resitrictors. ansd a damn dragster runs what, 5 minutes tops, at which time bracket' rac ers head for the pit cooling area and shove a garden hose in the radiator to cool it down..

Bull shit. So your saying the car sold in Reno has a different cooling system than the one sold in Pa, horse shit it does. Its been argued here many times and the answer is the same, wind chill has no effect on an engine. And wind chill is a result of air movement and moisture, some times refered to as wet bulb temp.

And guess what, we dont run shutters on the radiators any more, haven't for decades. Those went bye-bye in the 70's, and the need for card board went away when we started using fan clutches, electrically controlled like an AC compressor.
