Checking Sonoma Differential Oil?

Had been a while since I looked under my 2001 Sonoma to check the spare tire pressure. Noticed most of the paint was flaked off my differential and lots of rust. In a salt-free environment.

Knocked the remaining paint flakes off fairly easily with a wire brush. But was looking for drain and fill/level plugs. Didn't find any. Did find a vent and hose on the top side.

Primed the surfaces with a high-zinc primer. Will paint soon. Only interested in preventing rust.

Meanwhile, how does one check the gear lube in this differential? FYI: its a 4:10 or 4:11 non-LSD on 2.2L 5-speed.

And don't reef on the plug. IIRC it's aluminum and is known to stick. It is a square drive... if it doesn't go right away you can gingerly heat it up.
