Chev 292 engine question.

Here's my question. This year I bought an old boat which is powered by a Chev 292. I've been told it's a 1975. I want to tune it up with the ususal tune parts - plugs, wires, points and condenser, cap, pcv valve and fuel filter.

My question is ---- What is the gap settings for the spark plugs and points?

Thanks Bert

Bert,

Almost all point type ignitions the plugs work well at 0.035" gap. As I don't have a manual near me for the point gap I would suggest 0.018" using a flat blade feeler gauge.

I thing that Chevy prefers to use a meter for setting the gap. That would be a setting of 30 degrees of dwell. But that works out to approximately 0.018" gap.
