Chevy Blazer 2000 - Acting bizaar

I have a Chevy 200 Blazer. About a week and a half ago it starting acting strange. First the speedometer would go up and down along with the tachometer. Driving a couple of blocks the ABS light would come on. Shortly there after the tranny would rev up without going anywhere. I can unplug the battery to reset the computer, but that only lasts for a few blocks. The control in the dash somehow seems like it is triggering the tranny. Does anybody have experience with this to point me in the right direction to what is up with this truck?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

vehicle speed sensor

when it loses signal, the ECM thinks the vehicle is stopped, and shifts the transmission back into '1'

the engine cannot catch up to the actual speed in first, and it feels like neutral

Thanks, That does seem to be right. I just bought one, now I just have to find out where it is. I keep finding stuff to confirm everything you said, but I cannot find the location of where to put the thing. I really do appreciate you pointing me into the right direction. I will let yo know as soon as I get the thing installed.

Thanks again

TranSurgeon,

We replaced the VSS. I am in total agreement that is what the problem was, but it still does is not fixed. There are a couple of snags though. I had bought the blazer used and was not aware that the transfer case or the end of it was replaced with a

1998. I had bought the right sensor for my truck but that was not the same as the one we took out. So we went to autozone and had to match it. We also noticed that the plastic holder that is with the wireharness section had been superglued together. (and yes I bought this from a dealer). It is still doing basically the same thing. But now we have the service engine light that comes on. Is there anything that could be triggering this sensor? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Also I have another question from a friend, and it relates to a tranny, can I ask it in here or do I need to find a pontiac group?

Thanks Gooch

tranny,

Sounds like the harness was butchered. Probably has a bad connection. Buy a replacement for a 98 and wire it in using good connectors.
