Crate Tranny

If I wanted to buy a new crate transmission for my 91 2wd Silverado with the

5.7L automatic, does anyone know what part number that would be? My truck has 257xxx on it and the tranny has been rebuilt twice. Think the next time I will go with a new GM crate tranny.

I priced a 700R4 for my 91 S-10 Blazer. Price is $1200 and that includes a new torque converter. warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles. so the price of new is very much inline for what you paid for a rebuild, but with a much better warranty.. The dealer is an Autoway Chevrolet in Florida, and I plan to order it in three weeks. Whitelightning

Are you sure it was a NEW tranny? The transmission place I went to said NEW Torque converters alone cost $800 and up and rebuilt TCs ran $200 and up. I suspect you got a rebuilt transmission and rebuilt TC or else you got one heck of a deal.

warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles. so the price of

Nothing there says it's a new one and they want the core back. Why would they want the core if it was a new tranny? It seems a pretty safe bet to me that it's just a rebuilt one sold under the Goodwrench name. You do realize that Goodwrench sells a lot of rebuilt parts? Alternators, AC compressor, etc.

Just trying to help you, dude. You think GM still sells "new" 700R4s? Good luck. I doubt they've cast one for quite some time.

You got the wrong person. I'm with you, I don't believe they are selling new ATs with new TCs for 1400 bucks. I was replying to the OP>

This was the exact information I was looking for. The trannie isn't new and it isn't "rebuilt" its "remanufactured".
