Do I need hub centric or lug centric wheels?

Ordering some new wheels tomorrow. They offer a hub centric version and also a lug centric version. Do I need to order hub centric wheels for my truck?

It is a 1996 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 that came with the 16 X 7 inch, 6 bolt X 5.5 wheels.

Just want to make sure I order the proper ones as I can't return these if I get the wrong ones.

Am I safe in ordering that part number, or do I have to find out center bore size and specify that when I order.

Someone told me that just because they say hub centric, it still might not fit my truck. (might be sized for a Toyota or Canyon)

Anyone know? Thanks.

Hub centric means the center hole of the wheel will snuggly fit the "hub" on the axle flange, and the front rotors. Leaving the lugs to do what they were designed to do, hold the wheel on, not support the weight of the vehicle and its load..

I would get the Hub Centric version. That means the wheel is centered on the Hub, the center part of your wheel onto the trucks Hub. This is also where it's mounted when the wheel gets balanced. The Lug Centric version means the wheel is centered to the Lug Nuts. Wheels don't normally get balanced like this. All the weight of the truck is on the lugs only. You also have more of a balance problem. This type of wheel is normally used for a wheel used on Multiple type of Hubs, so fits many different setups. I see this a lot on like wheel for 4 lug cars but has 8 lug holes for 2 different bolt patterns. Sometimes then will come with a plastic Insert for the Hub hole so that it will center on the hub for less Vibration problems.
