Engine/Drivetrain Conversion question

1978 K20 Chevy Scoutsdale (4x4 3/4Ton) 4" suspension lift (Will upgrade to 8") 2" Body lift Corp 14 Rear Corp 10 Front

Currently it has a 350/TH350/NP203, I have a 502/700R4/(Klune-V & Atlas II when I get more money) setup I want to put into it. I did some searching for engine mounts and what not but couldent find any thing. I know ill need a bigger radator /w mount. If you have any site links or advice for this type of upgrading. I thank you in advance.

My guess would be to start with a catalog that sells parts for both small and big block trucks and start comparing part numbers. If the part # is the same for both, then it's universal, if not, then they're specific to either small or big block applications.

Do you have an LMC Truck catalog? If not, get a free one here:

On the Atlas transfer case, I think I remember reading that the crossmember underneath may need to be changed. Check with Advance Adapters about that--they'd know for sure what's involved in its installation.

Email Jerrod Jones... he's on the staff of Peterson's Four Wheel and Off Road magazine. He just put a big block in a K5 that he built for the latest "Ultimate Adventure".

The fact that he works for one of the biggest 4WD mags would probably mean he'd have a lot of knowledge on this subject.

Good luck...

If the 502 is a bored and stroked small block the engine mounts will work as is. Bigger question is connecting the tranny to the transfer case. If its based on a big block, then scrounge the mounts from a pick up truck that had a

454.

A 502 small block would have some thin walls:)

Thank You for the advice

The 502 is not a small block, I do beleave its based on the 454.

So more then likly ill just have to get 454 Engine mounts from LMC and them forward on the frame to clear the block from the firewall

And ya by the looks of the AtlasII to the NP203 ill have fab or find someone who makes a cross member to bolt on.
