how do you tell which temp. the fan clutch kicks in? IS THE TEMP. STAMPED ON THE CLUTCH SOMEWHERE?
No temp stamped on the clutch. Are you having a problem or are you just curious?

No idea what year your truck is. If it is computer controlled put a 195 degree thermostat back in. Running a few degrees higher than the thermostat is not uncommon. The marked temperature is where the thermostat starts to open.

I know the thermo. opens at 180 but when does the fan clutch kick in? at what temp?
Gee lets try this again. The fuel management systems wants to see 195 degrees operating temperature, so do you think they will put a clutch fan on that will kick in before that temperature? You might not have fuel injection, but you do have a 'feed back" carburetor and an ecm and it does look at engine temperature. So the answer is somewhere above the temperature the factory recommended thermostat opens.
