IM LOOKING INTO BUYING A 03 1500HD CREW.THEY SAY THE FUEL MILEAGE ISN'T GREAT.IS THERE ANYWAY TO IMPROVE IT? ANY OTHER INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL.

my '99 Silverado 1500 non HD gets about 15mpg.

I think I posted this in the 4x4 group, but my LQ9 manages over 18mpg when I take it easy. I don't know about the LQ4's...
Stock, I was getting around 16 to 17. I installed a set of good plug wires, and a free flowing exhaust.

That 1500HD is equal to a 2500 . with a 8600 gvw. Some people think the ride is harsh for what they though was a 1/2 ton. That one reason it was renamed to a 2500LD in 2004. SO compare apples to apples
