Fuel smell after engine turned off - Sonoma 2.2L

My GMC Sonoma 2.2L 2WD is running fine, except for a strong smell of fuel after I shut the engine off.

I just had a tune -up, but it was occuring before and still occurs every time.

It's been doing this for weeks now, with no loss of power issues or other symptoms.

The fuel injectors were also recently purged, again, problem was there before and after this also.

Any ideas?

Yup - start at the pump and go from there.

Good to know it might be a fuel injector after all.

I just had them purged, whatever that is.. Did you need to have the Fuel injector replaced or is there an effective method of unclogging them?

How does a mechanic determine which one it is iff it needs to be replaced. Do they each need to be removed?

I'm no espert... But I think they pull them and bench test them. With a GM throttle body, you just pull off the air cleaner and watch them fire...

If you smell fuel, it is leaking fuel or fumes...........it can be hard to find sometimes, follow your nose...;)
