GMAC - Insurance

FINAL NOTICE

We are writing to extort you to buy insurance from us at an inflated rate. We did not receive the copy of your insurance policy you provided when you picked up the vehicle. We do not acknowledge the insurance cards or the certificate of insurance you sent us, nor do we recall having received the confirmation directly from your insurance company.

If you don't jump through the hoops of providing us all this information by yesterday we will force you to buy the most basic of coverage for a lot more than you are currently paying for an order of magnitude better coverage from your current provider.

P.S. Don't bother reminding us we pulled this crap several times over with your previous GM or Chevy vehicle that you purchased using our financing service. We don't remember that either.

Sincerely, GMAC Customer Disservice

I finance from banks. They don't sell insurance, that's a confliction of interest in my book.

Get it. "interest"?

GMAC pulled the same crap with me. After the third "extortion letter" I sent the proof of insurance return receipt requested with a letter explaining that any further demands for proof of insurance would require a prepaid "research fee" of $50.00 per hour. They never asked again.

You sold yourself short I told them my research rate was $125.00 an hour and that money Attorney was $225.00 and after receiving any further dunning letters from them I would precede with legal action.

After having this happen with not only GMAC, but a Federal Credit Union as well, I now take the name & number of the person I speak to at the insurance company while I am at the dealership. I also have them fax proof of insurance directly to the dealership to be included in the financing paperwork. A collective bunch of dumbasses working for wage can't be expected to keep anything straight.

Is this a State issue? I have purchased a few vehicles now all from dealerships in Houston, Texas and have never experianced any of those problems. I show them my current insurance "Geico" they useally take a copy along with my drivers license and that's that.

What state/city are you all experiancing these problems???

Thanks,

Yuma, Arizona. Dealer was Fisher Chevrolet. The other guys responding are in different states. I think it is a polcy thing with GMAC that causes the issue. I know its annoying as hell, and may cause me to choose a different brand and or financing in the future. Having bought 4 GM/Chevy vehicles in the last four year you might think GMAC or GM would care, but they don't. I vote with my wallet. If enough people vote with their wallet then they will change policies that cause repeat commercial buyers like myself to go elsewhere. Personally I highly resent anybody who is profiting from me wasting my time dealing with issues that should have already been taken care of. This cuts into my ability to make money with my time. Ultimately it means I will be able to afford ot buy a new vehicle less often. All the way around annoying tactics like this are a drain on their profits.
