Good way to check injectors

I cleaned injectors a couple times by using my mighty vac pump hooke dup to the rail end of the injector, create a vacuum.

Hook the injector up to a light 5v AC adaptor, and put the engine end of the injector in a bowl with carb cleaner.

The 5V ac makes the injector pulsate and the carb cleaner gets sucked through it. You will be amazed how much crap comes out of the injector. U can also check the spraypatern like that.

Pretty good trick, bud. Do you have some kind of jar in the line between the rail and the vac. pump so you can see what kind of dirt, etc. are coming out of the injector and rail?

How does constant voltage make the injector pulse?

How do you check the spray pattern, when you are pulling cleaner through the spray nozzle end?

How do you prevent fuel from reentering the fuel rail, when you apply vacum to the rain, and the fuel return line is not valved with a check valve. Nor is the fuel pump a stop valve, it's a pass through design?

I can answer this one...He said AC voltage.

Absolutely. It's AC. And the way I understand what he's doing, he's disconnecting the rail from the fuel lines, removing it, sealing it, applying vacuum, and cleaning the injectors with his method. As far as the spray pattern, I would imagine he's hooking the lines and injector harness back up before reinstalling the rail. Cranking the engine and checking the spray pattern. No it's not real safe, but I've done it myself on a 3.4 L DOHC Olds Cutlass engine. Didn't kill myself or burn the garage down.

It's The AC that makes them pulse,

And to check the spray patern, I remove the injectors from the fuel rail and I have a canister with fuel, Add 40 psi of air pressure, hook up the 5v AC and the injectors open 60 times a sec. Works fine for me

Sounds like a good idea:

The only scary thing is the canister with gasoline and air.

but, my apologies for misunderstanding the AC in your other post.

I have an OTC injector pulser, with three different settings, in milliseconds, and the gauge reads in both PSI and Kilopascals.

The Kilopascals seems more accurate for finding clogged injectors, and for leaky ones, you just see the pressure run right out of the line, then it's remove one at a time till you find the bad one.

yes, it seams it would be alot more simple to just run some injector cleaner through it.....you know, the one that goes right to the fuel rail...
