i know this is a chevy group

i know this is a chevy group and all but i got a gm car. its a 1990 oldsmobile cutlass supreme international series 2 dr coupe. v6 3.1 L. the car was checked and was told abs is shot will cost over $1000! is there anyway i can convert to regular brakes and bypass abs tia mike

Find the ABS fuse and pull it. If you don't have an ABS fuse yank the connectors to the ABS control module. Voila, instant non-ABS brakes for free, although the ABS light on yer' dash might get annoying after awhile.

No, you won't be able to do this with this vehicle. If you have the ABS unit that includes the electric motor that assists the brake system, you are out of luck. You either fix it properly, or you don't have brakes. Thank goodness they got rid of this system.

Amen. Best bet is to find a used unit in a junkyard. Ask at the desk what models will interchange with it.

Naw....it's just that this one system was GM's "all in one" ABS system and it ended up being very expensive to fix. Most systems work the way you mentioned.

ive owned this p.o.s since 99 and drove it for awhile, nice car gets attention but its actually been sitting since april of 2001. and i really want to get full insurance on it and catch it on fire!! thats how i feel or beat it till the engine blows. anything to put this car through hell like it did with me!! before this happened i had the ac fixed, speed odo fixed it was digital and it was messed up,trans replaced at 168,000,coil packs,motor mounts,fuel pump 2 times,power att,sunroof leak, driver door handle, oh gosh so much to list i say i got more then 4,000 invested in this car and it just cost me a little over

3,000. where on earth was oldsmobiles head at when they made these cars?
