Increasing horsepower

I recently bought a new travel trailer camper. The GVW is 5700 lbs. According to the owners manual on my 2000 Silverado with the 4.8L, I am able to pull this. The truck does pull it, but just barely. I have installed a KandN air filter and that has helped a little. Is there anything else I can do to boost HP and/or low end torque? I read about the Hypertech programmer that is supposed to program the chip in my truck to increase HP. I assume it probably just changes shift points. Anyone have any ideas?

compairing your setup with something else? You can spend a ton of money on things that wont help much. When you say it just barely pulls it, what do you mean?

The Hypertech changes more than just shift points - it can modify air/fuel mix for more power, timing curve, shift points, anything in your truck that the computer can control - hell, if someone wanted to, i'd be willing to bet they could block radio stations with a reprogrammer if they tried hard enough... ;-)

Open up the exhaust some more - they make some really decent header setups and cat back systems that work wonders, and keep the K&N, just don't over-oil it.

If the trailer wieghs in at 5700lbs, then the truck should have no diffic= ulty in

pulling it. However, don't expect to get the same acceleration that you w= ould normally get without it. I haul a 4000lbs 5th wheel with mine and have no=

problems at all. I would leave it as it is, you gas milage will only suffer for an= y mods.

Best of luck.
