Looking for the smallest truck Best MPG and low cost.

I need to find a cheap truck that has high MPG for work

Hauling a lot of stuff wont always be necessary but I will need to carry more and larger things then i could fit in a car trunk

2wheel drive, Automatic, small standard cab, best MPG Between say 1985 to 1998 and easy to find.

S10 , Ranger, B2300 I have no idea but it should be small and still be able to carry small loads of construction materials. Large loads would be delivered.

I use a Toyota STATION WAGON for smaller loads up to about 1000 lbs. I can put 8 ft.ladders completely inside and stacks of concrete etc,OR 5 guys. 21MPG average, straight 6 Cressida Wgn, $1500 six years ago. Joe

21MPG, is that all from a small car?

Try 1988 Chevy S10, 2.5L 5 speed, 27mpg top, 25mpg average with a 20 gallon tank. It was a 500 mile trip to my parents house when I was in college and I could just make it there and back on a single fill up. Mine was 4x4 even, and we bought it from a repo auction. I actually just sold it to the junk yard after some kids drove into it in my driveway, had 170,000 miles.

I am not a Toyota lover by any means, but the Cressida was not a small car, it was classified a "luxury mid size" and it was heavy. and your comparing a

2.5 ltr 4 banger's mileage to a 3.0 ltr V-6 that was designed more towards performance than economy, the same engine and fuel management system as was used in the Supra. Its an apples to oranges comparison..

My take?

1 fillup (specifically stated). 500 mile *round* trip (yes, I added 'round' in the middle). 25 mpg as advertised.
