No A/C when idle on hot day

When my truck is sitting out durring the day and heats up, the A/C blows heat while idle. Only when I drive a couple of blocks will it start to blow cold.

I have replaced the low pressure switch myself. That did not fix it. I then took it to the dealer who also replaced the low pressure switch. No help. The dealer has had it two other times and cannot cause it to fail, so they cannot fix it.

It is a very unique set of circuimstances that causes it. But it always seems to happen this way. On Sunday we drive the truck to church. It sets in the parking lot all morning getting hot inside. When we leave I start it up and turn on the A/C, it blows warm no matter how long we sit idle. Even

10 minutes. As soon as we go about half a block, the cold kicks in. When it is not working, I can hear the compressor cycle.

I think it has something to do with the baffle that selects between heat, and A/C that delivers it to the ducts. I think something gets stuck or bumped. I found this thread on a message board that discusses my problem exactly but I cannot figure out where this part is. They call it a *Lower Panel Adjust mode door*

Any help in identifying where this baffle/door is and how to test it would be appreciated.

I believe I read somewhere recently that this is a computer malfunction issue. Not sure if it would apply to yours but it sure sounds like what I read about. That's assuming your vehicle is fairly new. You'll probably have to twist the dealers arm to get him to look thru all the service bulletins for AC problems and track it down. The one I'm thinking of could not be fixed by diddling with the AC system itself, it required something being reprogrammed or replace in the computer system.

Forgot to mention it's a 2001. If you have any more specifics on the computer reprogramming, I'd love to hear about it.

I need something to get the dealer to move a little more. But it is frustrating because its so intermitten.
