OT: Buick Power Window Questions

Hello all!

Vehicles in question are two Buicks. One is a 1988 LeSabre, the other is a

1989...can't think of the model on it. Both vehicles have power windows. Trouble is the windows almost won't operate on the battery alone and will barely move if the vehicle is running. You could call them sluggish, but that's awfully generous. Snails go faster. Sometimes the windows even need "help" to get back to the closed position.

The '88 car has had the driver's side window repaired as the track was not quite right. After said repairs that window almost operates as it should...but it's still sluggish. Any thoughts on what sort of problem I'm looking at?

I'd like to get straight to the problem as it seems that the door panels are rather flimsy and don't take well to repeated removals or handling.

My experience has been that you'll have to replace the motors. A friend of mine actually was able to drill out the rivets in the motor mechanism and clean/relubricate his. That's not recommended, and who knows how long it will work.
