PCM memory updates.

if you DO have to drop it, mark the bell housing bolts

one is a bit shorter and if a long one is put in that position, you crack into an oil passageway

I know I should post this in alt.autos.gm, but for some reason my news server dropped that newsgroup. My wife's '99 Olds Aurora, 4T80E trans., has been turning on the SES light. It's code P0741, (viscous converter clutch commanded on, but not engaged). I've got a good OTC Genisys scanner and the converter is engaging, but the slip speed is slightly out of limits as per the limits in a chart in the factory service manual. I commanded full line pressure to the trans. with the scanner and it made no difference. It probably needs a VCC control valve, solenoid and and new VCC, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a source that gave details of PROM updates to the PCM, (memory flashes, whatever you call them). I'm hoping that, since this is a common problem with this particular car, that GM may have a memory update that modifies the VCC slip limits and keeps the light off. Any help would be much appreciated, as I'm really dreading dropping this trans. Thanks.

Serial number, Garrett? I'll see if I can get the info thru just the serial number. Normally, we have to request info with our scan tool and then once the scan tool is hooked up to the computer, we can see what software you have and what is available. I'm not sure if I can get the info with just the serial number, but I'll give it a try on Monday.

ps...yes I can get info with a serial number...send it along.
