Is this likely the guage itself or the sender or something else?
Thanks.

Hi!
I'd suspect the sender, but checking the wiring going to and from it is not a bad idea.
It seems that most (if not all) the gauges in the cluster of a modern vehicle are computer controlled. Perhaps the computer that controls them has become confused. Disconnecting the battery *might* help.

Well, it seems to have settled back to where it belongs, but I'm sort of skeptical that it's going to remain there.
Jeez. Why do I have the feeling that if I disconnect the battery, the radio/CD player is going to need to be reprogrammed (again)?
My wife took the truck in to the dealer the other day and they said that is the gauge cluster going bad. replacement cost is around $350 for the part from the dealer here in SC.
