Truck dies after starting

1993 Chevy K1500 4.3L V6

I?m looking for some suggestions as to what could be the problem with my truck. About two weeks ago, it suddenly started having problems, and today I had a "service engine soon" light come on.

It starts with no problem, but once it starts it doesn?t want to stay running. I can keep it running if I keep my foot on the gas, but when I put it in reverse to back out of my driveway it will die when I stop to shift into drive. But it will run just fine after I go a block or so. Then today I had a "service engine soon" light come on and stay on while I drove across town. I haven?t noticed any strange noises or anything coming from the truck. I do know that the engine is leaking a little oil, and has been for a while. I?m really not too knowledgeable when it comes to automobiles, so I don?t know if this could be causing the check engine light to come on or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like what my truck was doing, also the 4.3V6. After $200 in sensors and a code reader, the problem turned out to be a clogged fuel filter. What I learned, try the cheap stuff first.
