type of tranny gear oil?

Hi Everyone, I've searched online but haven't found any solid answers other than what the dealer sells. I have a '95 Chevy P/U, 305ci, and a five speed manual tranny. Does anyone know what model number, and type of gear oil this tranny takes? I've found different answers online so I'm not sure. Thanks a lot, Brian.

I used Royal Purple 90 weight in my '64 T-10 4spd. It is synthetic.

Just for your info, don't know if it helps. Karl

I think he should look in his owners manual and use what it says. Most new manual transmissions use ATF. Old style gear lube will kill the synchronizers.

trannie. Automatic trannie oil (the red stuff) is used in the transfer case (4x4)
